We took an exciting twilight trip down the Thames from Battersea to Greenwich. The weekend was the tail end of a cold weather phenomenon gripping the UK nicknamed The Beast from The East, and to be honest we were in two minds about doing the trip in such cold conditions, and definitely did not want to go in! We had no need to worry, and the day became a great example of just do it.
The trip was organised by London Kayak Company londonkayakcompany.com/about-us/ Many thanks to Harry Whelan, a canoeist of fame, having circumnavigated the British Isles and Ireland but on this day accompanied us. Travelling with the tide the journey took two and a half hours and passes all the key landmarks of London from the Houses of Parliament to the London Eye, and of course Tower Bridge. Harry's facts. some truthful, some speculative, bring the history of the Thames to life.
